In Case You Missed Out the First Time: Pope Benedict XVI's Volkswagen Golf Up For Sale on eBay!
Record-breaking auction to aid Habitat for Humanity UK
This is the same car that caused a media frenzy, and shattered eBay records with over 8.5 millions hits to its’ auction page in May of 2005.
The car which once belonged to Cardinal Josef Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict XVI, was won by GoldenPalace for an impressive €188,938.88.
A few months before being elected head of the Catholic Church, Cardinal Josef Ratzinger decided to sell his six-year-old VW Golf. The vehicle had been imported from Germany to Rome in 1999.
Benjamin Halbe, 21, bought the vehicle without knowing its’ history. It was only when Halbe obtained the car’s registration documents confirming Josef Ratzinger as the former owner that he realized the truly blessed nature of his purchase.
The purchasing of the car by GoldenPalace drew international attention and worldwide media coverage.
