Firstly I would like to apologize for the structure of this informal rant, but I just had to get this out of my head:
The mainstream media is, of course, always there to fan the flames of these intellectually draining issues and to distract the masses with mundane dualistic concepts, such as "left wing" and "right wing", "good" and "evil".....
These observations and many more things make me feel as if the U.S. is teetering on the brink of collapse, politically, economically and even mentally. This is not a new thought however, I have thought this for at least the past year.
On another note...
Our incredibly vast overseas expenditures and tangling alliances have systemically destroyed our dollar and turned America from a beacon of hope into a lonely and bruised giant. It's not surprising that the world won't take us seriously when you have an executive branch that independently decides to invade two countries, threatens to invade others, but then wags their finger at any other country that considers doing the same. It is utter hyprocrisy!
Do we even remember why we are still at war? George Bush himself said Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11! Nowadays it seems as if being a traitor is equated with being an advocate for peace....
At home our civil liberties are constantly under attack by ironically named bills such as "The Patriot Act". The founding fathers of this nation are surely rolling in their graves. We have come so far from the original vision of the founders that I dare say we are on the brink of fascism.
With no end in sight to the current wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and with new conflicts always brewing on the horizon, the only CHANGE that seems to be occurring is not a positive one.
So what is a PIMPIN TURTLE to do? Stay in America and ride out the collapse? Move to another country...but where? Where is safe in this world?
I'll end this rant for now, because after reading it over I now realize that it only scratches the surface of the problems and does not accurately convey how genuinely frustrated I am with EVERYTHING.
For now my solution is to maintain inner peace and clarity of mind. This is the only freedom that I cannot be deprived of, regardless of the political circumstances of my country.
